Last Christmas I got Whammed

For a lot of people, Christmas is depressing; it is depressing because it brings back memories that aren't always pleasant. One would think there aren't song's or movies that deal with that depression and those regrets, but, they would be wrong. In 1984 the British Group Wham recorded the song, Last Christmas that is a little unusual, and to be honest with you a little strange. The song comes across with a peppy enjoyable Christmas style of tune, while at the same time having a lyric that looks at lost love from a year ago. The verse never finds resolve other than to move on. The problem is, that the listener hears the tune, hears the peppy attitude, while at the same time hearing this resentful verse that almost wants to throw lost love into the face of the one they still obviously have some feelings for. This strange sort of song, reached number one on numerous charts and sold well over a million copies for platinum status. Last Christmas is a strange bedfellow and even stranger how the song still receives a great deal of airplay during the holidays.

Unfortunately the song resonates with themes that we all seem to relate to, whether Christian, or not, male or female, White or Black, rich or poor. It is unfortunate that we often dwell on the past instead of the present. We focus on the bad things that life gives us instead of the positive. The song Last Christmas this year can be a reminder of that. Hopefully we can realize that we can choose to focus on what we have, or we can choose to focus on what we have lost. We can do a turn around if you will whenever we hear this song. Instead of singing along in a cheery way, let us focus on the need to focus on the positive. Don't get me wrong, there are times to think about and learn from the past, but let us not dwell on it so much that we loose focus on what we have.

Now before we get to the videos today, hopefully everyone will remember to pass the blogs along to your friends. The Christmas Special blogs from TVP can help a lot of people. This is the original version of Last Christmas put out by Wham. I actually kind of liked Wham and didn't have the problem with them that many other individuals did.

Savage Garden does a unique version of the song Last Christmas in that in the background you see the video of the original version of this song.

Carrie Underwood does this song in Washington. It is kind of funny knowing what the song is about and seeing all of the politicians and their wives tapping along and enjoying this depressing song.

Here is a paradoy clip of Last Christmas I like by a fan.

Another fan video featuring a group of college guys, a fun rendetion of Last Christmas.

YouTube has a lot of fan remakes, this is one I actually like quite a bit with quite a few still photographs.

Ashley Tisdale covers the tune in this quality video that matches up well with the original by Wham's Last Christmas. Musically I also like the remix of this.

Last Christmas is not unique to the rest of the Anime features on YouTube. Here is one of the Anime versions.

A R&B remix that is actually done quite nice of Last Christmas. I really like this one as well.

Another fan vid, not the best quality, but it has its moments.

A Dance Version of Last Christmas by Europes Whigfield. If you like dance rhythms you will love this.

Another Anime version of Last Christmas.

Marilyn and Twiggy's Last Christmas, yes that is Marilyn Manson, you have to see this one to know what it is about.

Rap Allstars Last Christmas. Another great version with a remix on the vocals.
